surfer color palette colorblind
« on: August 29, 2017, 04:11:50 AM »
Hi,

I've made a color palette for surfer based on viridis (but with lower excluded data black and upper excluded data white) for surfer

https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/viridis/vignettes/intro-to-viridis.html

I've attached the color palette

Does any one else have any good color palettes

Also there's a good plugin for imagej which shows what an image would look like

http://www.vischeck.com/downloads/

Thanks

Ben

Just to add the pictures (a) beam scan map spectrometer out of focus using viridis modified color palette
(b-d) simulated colorbind - using vischeck in imagej

I see the point in this, but I transformed some of my maps into viridis. They are now kind of ugly to look at. Almost hurts.

I know nothing about color blindness, but are colorblind people unable to see a thermal color scale like this:

or as we utilize it:

I can see this scale quite well.  If I need to colour maps this is what I use. I actually find that it's a bit more useful than gray scale.

I can't speak for other colour blind people but it works for me.
Cheers
Glenn
