Plating of sample holders
« on: June 14, 2016, 08:52:20 AM »
My shop made me some beautiful new holders for my JEOL 8230. They are made of brass and I was wondering if I needed to get them plated.
None of the holders on my old  733 were plated and I'm wondering if the plating is a cosmetic thing or if there really is a better conductivity with Ni plating.
Any opinions one way or another?

Cheers

Glenn

Cameca makes their sample holders out of Al with a (phos) Ni plating.

The Ni plating allows it to "wear" better.
