Electron microscopes in the movies
« on: August 21, 2014, 01:07:40 PM »
A list of SEMs in movies has been compiled (see below), my favorite is "The Man in the White Suit" which if you haven't seen it is excellent comedy and social criticism as well.

But what about the electron microprobe?  Has it been spotted in any movies or TV shows yet? I mean besides NOVA!

I read a fictional BOOK once with an EPMA in it. I was actually working on the probe when I discovered that part in the book! I almost had a fit I was so excited.

Only I forgot the name  >:(

It was a story about finding a dinosaur skeleton (maybe a T-rex). Maybe somewhere in Utah/badlands. There were military special forces involved too.

If someone knows the name of this book, please remind me  ;D

Deon.

We finally have an electron microprobe showing up in the (TV) wild!

The first episode of the new Netflix show "Katla" shows the JEOL JXA-8230 at the University of Iceland at around 8.30 minutes in.

Against the dark, a tall white fountain played.

Hi Deon, I think it may be this book: Tyrannosaur Canyon (Wyman Ford Series, 1) by Douglas Preston. I haven't read it yet but this book was mentioned by someone else in the same context.
