Data Acquisition options using Remote
« on: November 08, 2013, 11:50:20 AM »
Hello,
We are interested in using the Remote COM interface to automate sample acquisition for a particular purpose. We would like to drive to certain areas along a sample, acquiring point analyses on the fly (rather than digitizing and then going back to that position)... we have our reasons for doing it this way that we cannot go into. Is there a high level function call equivalent to the 'Start Unknown Acquisition' that we would be able to use for on the fly analyses? Or would we have to go through and code each individual step (e.g., Spectrometer 1 move here, count for X seconds on peak; move to Background 1, count for Y sections here, etc.). Any thoughts? Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,
The Remote interface consists only of instrument "primitives" as documented in the Remote.CHM file, so yes, there are no "high level" calls in the Remote COM interface.

In my PFE application of course things are handled at higher levels and there, the "coin of the realm" so to speak, is the "sample" which is a very large structure that is constantly being updated and modified.  Not really suitable for a user interface.

If what you merely want to do is see your analyses as they are acquired, you can do that in PFE using this checkbox in the Acquisition Options dialog from the Acquire! window:
