Pathfinder Standard Composition Library Translator
« on: March 22, 2018, 03:07:34 PM »
All,

I have written an application that will import standard compositions from Probe for EPMA's Standard program's ASCII (NOT single row format) export into Pathfinder's standard composition library format.

It makes a copy of any previously existing standard composition library file.

To use the application,
-Download extract it.
-Export your PFE standard library as ASCII.
-Launch the StandardCompLibraryTranslator.
-Browse to the appropriate exported .dat file.
-Click the Process button.
-Enjoy not needing to enter your standard compositions into Pathfinder.
--The Pathfinder library is located here:
C:\ProgramData\Thermo Scientific\NSS\NSS Libraries\WDS\WdsLibrary.csv

Note1: Pathfinder does not handle more than 24 elements in a standard. The app tells you which of your PFE standards have too many elements at the very bottom of the WdsLibrary.csv file. It usually only happens with REE glasses.

Note2: If your standard composition name has commas, they will be replaced with periods.

Note3: Standard composition names are truncated to 30 characters, which is the limit that Pathfinder allows.

Let me know if you have issues with it.
Your friendly, neighborhood, EPMA-minded EDS guy.

Steve, praise be! I've been looking forward to this. This is so incredibly useful!

Thanks
