Does anyone have any experience with characterizing oxidation rates of various materials when coated with carbon or other materials, with various coating thicknesses?

In other words has anyone ever tried to determine how much oxidation rates on a specific substrate are reduced by on silicon or copper for example, after the clean substrate has been coated with 20 nm or carbon versus say 10 nm or 30 nm of carbon?

I suppose it would matter what purity the carbon coating was and whether it was sputtered or evaporated?

Just wondering if anyone has looked into this...
The only stupid question is the one not asked!
