Combining EDS and WDS x-ray signals Hyper Spectral Maps

Some have wondered if it would be possible to combine WDS and EDS signals together for hyper spectral images. The problem is that the timing for this type of spectrum acquisition is critical as a lot of data is moving at a high rate and so there needs to be hardware signals integrated into the data storage routines that relate to beam scan position (even with stage scanning, the pixel limits have to be defined by hardware clocking).

Therefore hyperspectral integration with WDS is mainly a hardware issue, but here is a discussion of what is involved.  Please see this post:

At this point, getting the WDS signals in the spectrum image file is something I have discussed with Thermo and they do want to do that. If there is a way to do this *without* hardware clocking, and therefore without special hardware, I'd like to know about it. So I suspect this WDS-EDS integration will need to be a Bruker or Thermo feature.
