Latest JEOL Driver Version

The latest JEOL driver version 1.6.2 fixes a rare but nasty "same command executed" error (1004) that can occur on 8230 and 8530 instruments.

If you buy a new computer for your lab (e.g., Win 7 64 bit), you will need to move the existing JEOL driver from the old computer to the new computer. Otherwise you will get the following error when you try to connect to the instrument:

File not found: amb_jeol8x00.dll

Here are some tips:

1. To begin with you will need to contact us for a new registration code once you see the following dialog on starting Probe for EPMA:



You should click the Copy button and paste the serial number into an email and send it to us. We will respond as soon as we can with a registration code. Just copy and paste the supplied registration code into the registration field and click the Register button.

2. The old driver will normally be in the Windows\System32 folder. Simply copy the amb_jeol8x00.dll file from the old computer to the new computer and place it in the following folder depending on the OS:

All 32 bit Windows OS systems: C:\Windows\System32
All 64 bit Windows OS systems: C:\Windows\SysWOW64

Remember,  If you install v. 11.x of Probe for EPMA on a new computer you *must* utilize version 2.0.3 of the JEOL (or Cameca) driver!

Remember, the dll driver file should be copied to the folder based on your operating system version. Simply unzip and copy the amb_jeol8x00.dll file to the following folder depending on the OS:
