Performing Integrated CL spectrum acquisition in PFE
« on: June 19, 2015, 04:53:51 PM »
I've just implemented in v. 10.92 of Probe for EPMA the ability to acquire, store, display and output CL spectra as seen here:

Yes, that is correct- one can now acquire WDS elements, EDS spectra and CL spectra all at the same time in PFE! Currently the acquisition is limited to demo CL intensities (random noise), but it will be easy now to interface to most CL acquisition systems I should think...

See the thread here that Jason and Rico started:

Once the CL spectra are acquired they can be viewed from the Output menu as seen here:

or exported automatically from Output | Export All CL Spectra To EMSA Format Files.

Now I just need someone to tell me what CL hardware system(s) they want to interface to...  suggestions?

Ocean optics would be good and maybe add some functionality to CI so we might select regions of interest when gridding the data for Surfer.......

This full spectrum CL acquisition feature is now available as described here:

We modified the CL acquisition code so it now explicitly saves the actual wavelengths (per pixel) from the Ocean Optics CL spectrometer.  Thanks to Aaron Torpy from CSIRO who pointed this out to us.

Here is an example of a benitoite spectra using the new code:

It's not something one would notice visually, but it is more accurate.

More examples of CL spectra acquired in Probe for EPMA can be seen here:
